Mentoring
During my first trimester of my junior year, I was a mentor for Mrs. Pramuka's Business Technology class. This class works to develop basic computer skills. The students use different software such as Microsoft World, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Windows Movie Maker. As a mentor, I would answer any questions the students had. I also worked one-on-one with a student for a week or so to provide him with some extra assistance. This is a letter of recommendation from Mrs. Pramuka. In the letter, she addresses my role as a mentor in her class. |

Informative Speech
|
For my dual enrollment Speech 101 class through Mid Michigan Community College, I had to give an informative speech. An informative speech is a speech that teaches the audience new information or a new skill. The speech I gave was "How to Wrap a Present." As you can see in the background on the board, there are brightly colored posters. These posters listed each of the steps needed in order to wrap a present. These posters allowed me to present the steps visually, instead of just verbally. |
Persuasive Speech
For my dual enrollment Speech 101 class through Mid Michigan Community College, I had to give a persuasive speech. A persuasive speech is a speech that tries to persuade the audience to agree with your stance on a controversial topic.
The speech I gave was "The ACT is Ruining the Futures of Today's Students." At the beginning of my speech as shown in the video, I had each student take a five question test. This test had random questions on it such as "What are the three primary colors?" I then gave the students 15 seconds to answer the questions. The point of this was to show how rushed the students felt during this test compared to taking the ACT. The rest of my speech was then presented through a Prezi. |
